Photo Finish?
I love photography. I've been in the photo club at school, spending wednesday afternoons going out taking pictures or in the school's dark room learning how to print them. As a consequence, I bought my first SLR, a Pentax MX, back in 1980. Over the years, I've shot loads of films, following the principle that the more pictures you take, the higher the likelihood of getting a decent one every once in a while.
As will be the case for many amateur photographers, most of my pictures were taken either on vacation, or at family occasions. But as the years went by, I found my appetite for taking pictures slowly diminishing. In 1999, I decided that it was time to upgrade from my all-manual camera to a state of the art, auto-everything modern wonder. In search for that new camera, I started to buy camera magazines. The new Canon that I acquired as a result, together with the information from the magazines, rekindled my interest and the film count went up once again as I tried out new things. I even started using my old camera again! But still most of my photography was travel or family based.
After a few years of this happy shooting however, my appetite for taking pictures began to dwindle again. Although I'm still very fond of the medium, I'm becoming an "armchair photographer", avidly reading several photo magazines, but rarely going out anymore to take pictures myself. I feel like I'm repeating the same kind of pictures over and over again, that I suffer from a lack of inspiration. I suppose I need to set myself some new challenges, some kind of photo project maybe?
What a weird place the internet is.
I was into photography as a child, and had a good friend who bought a Pentax MX in 1980.
If you recognize my name, do get in touch.
